Sept. 14 - Morning in Banff

 Our campground entrance.

Clouds on the mountain (the mountain being Cascade, I think!).

Most of the streets in town were named after critters - I like it!

The rock statue on the left is an inukshuk (or an inunnguaq?).  I first saw these on trails in Maine and first saw them named in Quebec City.  These are cairns originally used by Eskimos such as the Inuits and Inupiats.  This is the biggest one I've seen...  (and this one's for you, Gabo!!  :)

After some research, I found a good location for photographing the Banff Springs Hotel.  It's a vantage point that is better for AM shots, and here the morning fog has not totally lifted yet.

The Banff Springs Hotel and the Bow River.

The ubiquitous train!  For so much of our travels, we have seen and heard (day and night!) trains, trains, trains!  San Diego may be special all right - in the absence of trains if nothing else!  And here you see another name that is all over Canada - Canadian Tire, which is something of a department store.

The Vermilion Lakes area, which is very near the town of Banff.

 One of the Lakes.

Mt. Rundle, still clothed in clouds.

And back through Banff.  Nice in the mornings before the streets are filled with toe-to-toe traffic (be it car or foot!)!
